Syrinxian

From The Regnum Animale by Bishop Vitellus of Oaken:

Commonly (and inaccurately) referred to by foreigners as "High Aquilarian" or "High Aquilan", this is the lyrical, lilting language of the Avians.  It incorporates many trills, whistles and other musical sounds, and those speaking it are often mistaken to be singing songs.  Which, in fact, they may be said to be doing, since song is a strong element of their language.  The written form of Syrinxian is as complex as its vocal form, using whorls, spirals and patterns to complement its phonetic alphabet in conveying meaning and context.  Syrinxian is widely known as the "language of magic", and it is rumored that the act of committing Syrinxian words to parchment is itself an act which might result in contacting other planes of existence — though I personally suspect this to be superstition.  This is not so far from the truth as you may think.  Avian mages I have witnessed treat the written form of their language with such respect and care that you might imagine they were handling the Arkhaven Tome of Exalted Deeds. – Benevolus
